Chaucer’s Bookstore will host a storytime with bestselling Santa Barbara author Patrice Karst, who will discuss her latest book “The Invisible String Family Celebration: A Reimagining of The Invisible String.”
The author talk will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 at 3321 State St., Santa Barbara.
Karst’s newest book offers “a diverse, inclusive reimagining of her bestselling phenomenon ‘The Invisible String’ that helps even more readers than ever feel connected to this transformative, healing story,” Chaucer’s said.
“For a quarter of a century, ‘The Invisible String’ has helped comfort and heal millions of readers by easing separation anxiety, loneliness and loss, while also exploring the intangible yet unbreakable connections between us all,” Chaucer’s said.
This newly illustrated reimagining of this celebration of love answers the call from fans for a diverse range of children and families to be included in the contemporary all-ages classic.
In the story, when a mom and dad tell their twins that they’re all connected by an Invisible String, the children insist that’s impossible. But still, they want to know more: What kind of string?
The answer is one that people around the world have been sharing for a generation, and it’s the simple truth that binds us all: It’s an Invisible String made of love. Even if you can’t see it, you can feel it deep in your heart and know that you are always connected to the ones you love.
Karst’s contemporary classic “The Invisible String” has sold some 2 million copies and been translated into 20 languages.
Among Karst’s other books are: “The Invisible String Backpack,” “The Invisible Leash: An Invisible String Story Celebrating Love After the Loss of a Pet;” “The Invisible Web: An Invisible String Story Celebrating Love and Our Universal Connection;” “The Invisible String Workbook: Creative Activities to Comfort, Calm and Connect,” a therapeutic activity book co-written with Dana Wyss.
Born in London, England, Karst now lives in Santa Barbara where she is working on her memoir. Learn more at www.patricekarst.com.
