The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Bureau identified a 23-year old San Diego resident as the man who died after falling from the Isla Vista cliffs Saturday afternoon.

Jacob William Aladar Parker fell from the 6600 block of Del Playa Drive about 50 feet to the beach below, authorities said.

No further information was available about the incident, Sheriff-Coroner’s Office spokeswoman Raquel Zick said.

County Fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said Saturday that Parker reportedly climbed over a barrier fence on the Del Playa Drive property.

A GoFundMe created to raise money for Parker’s family had more than $16,000 as of Monday night.

“He changed lives in his own way, as a loving son, caring sibling, loyal friend, proud UCSB graduate, sharp entrepreneur, avid Bay Area sports fan, model of health, and a prolific lover of music, so much so that he started successfully running live music events,” the GoFundMe organizer wrote about Parker.

Parker is the fourteenth known victim to fall from the Isla Vista cliffs in recent decades and the second death in the past year.

In September, 19-year-old Santa Barbara City College student Benny Schurmer died after falling from the cliffs on the 6700 block of Del Playa Drive.

Parker and Schumer’s deaths have sparked growing concerns over cliff safety in Isla Vista.

The county recently raised the required fence height to 6 feet on public and private property along the Isla Vista blufftops.

There are also concerns about building safety after balcony collapses this winter and spring.

Second District County Supervisor Laura Capps has been encouraging property owners in Isla Vista to raise their fences.

“This tragedy is a stark reminder of how dangerous these bluff top properties are,” Capps wrote on Instagram on Sunday in response to the cliff fall. “Property owners: this is an urgent plea to do what’s right to help save lives. We all need to step up and make Isla Vista safer now.”
