The name of the big-rig driver killed in a crash last week on Highway 101 between Orcutt and Los Alamos has been released. 

David Gutierrez Hernandez 54, of Bakersfield died in the crash, according to Raquel Zick of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau.

The crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. last Thursday on northbound Highway 101, north of Solomon Road, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The tractor-trailer veered off the east edge of the roadway and into a nearby vineyard for reasons that remain under investigation. 

The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation as officers work to identify any contributing factors.
