The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday released the name of the pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle and killed Saturday afternoon on Highway 1 south of Orcutt.
The victim was Lonell Oliver, 57, of Lompoc, according to Raquel Zick, sheriff’s public information officer.
The collision occurred at about 5 p.m. on southbound Highway 1 south of Highway 135, said Capt. Scott Safechuck of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Oliver was standing in the roadway when he was hit by a sedan, according to the California Highway Patrol.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by AMR paramedics.
The sedan driver, a 19-year-old Lompoc man, was not injured, and remained at the scene, Safechuck said. His name was not released.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision, the CHP said.
