Authorities on Monday released the name of the pedestrian who was struck by a train and killed in Summerland last week.

The victim was Charles Thomas Hunter, 63, of Ventura, according to Raquel Zick, public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s deputies, county firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday to the incident near Lookout Park.

Hunter, who was declared dead at the scene, was struck by an Amtrak passenger train, Zick said.

The cause and manner of his death were under investigation by the sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau.
