A diver who died last week at San Miguel Island has been identified as Richard Toledo of Santa Barbara.
Agencies responded to an apparent medical emergency at San Miguel Island, the westernmost of the Channel Islands, on Thursday, March 9, and reported that a diver had died.
The Sheriff’s-Coroner’s Bureau this week identified the diver as Toledo, 59, and said the cause and manner of death were still under investigation.
He had been aboard a commercial fishing vessel, Erik Engebretson, operations manager at the Santa Barbara Harbor, told Noozhawk.
No foul play is suspected, spokeswoman Raquel Zick said.
