A 36-year-old man has been named as the victim in a fatal travel-trailer fire in Buellton early Monday.

The deceased was Andrew James DeLarge of Buellton, according to Raquel Zick, spokeswoman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Santa Barbara County firefighters responded at about 12:30 a.m. Monday to the incident on the 9400 block of Santa Rosa Road, an agricultural area just west of Highway 101.

When crews arrived, the trailer was engulfed in flames, said fire Capt. Scott Safechuck, and DeLarge was found inside during a search.

“Despite resuscitative efforts by firefighter-paramedics and ambulance personnel, the patient was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Safechuck said.

The fire, which was knocked down at about 1:10 a.m., was contained to the 30- to 40-foot trailer, and did not spread spread to surrounding vegetation or structures, Safechuck said.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.

“Preliminary findings indicate the fire appears to be accidental in nature, and there is no evidence of criminal activity at this time,” Safechuck said.
