Authorities on Monday released the name of the man who was shot and fatally wounded last week in Santa Barbara.
The victim in the shooting at Bohnett Park on the city’s Westside was Luis Gerardo Terrazas, 29, of Santa Barbara, according to Raquel Zick, public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau.
Officers responded to the park at 1200 San Pascual St. on Friday at 1:31 a.m. and found Terrazas with a gunshot wound, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Officers and paramedics provided first aid to Terrazas, who was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives on Monday were continuing to investigate the killing.
Police Commander Charles Katsapis told Noozhawk that no arrests have been made.
“We do not have any additional updates at this time, as the investigation is ongoing,” he said.
Police have not said whether they believe the killing was gang-related.
At Bohnett Park, a memorial with flowers, candles, a photo and a stuffed animal has been set up in Terrazas’ honor. A car wash fundraiser to benefit his family is scheduled on Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1502 San Andres St.
Santa Barbara County District Attorney John Savrnoch confirmed to Noozhawk that Terrazas was one of three men facing charges related to the Aug. 1, 2025, stabbing death of Michael Bisquera Hartley, 30, on State Street in Downtown Santa Barbara.

Two other people were wounded in that incident, which occurred on the 500 block of State Street.
Terrazas was facing charges of felony assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury, and personally using a deadly weapon.
He had been released on a $150,000 bail, according to Tate McCallister, senior deputy district attorney.
Terrazas had been due back in court on March 9 for a preliminary hearing setting, according to online court records.
Two other men were arrested in connection with that incident.
