Authorities have released the name of the pedestrian who was struck by a train and killed in Santa Barbara earlier this week.
The victim was Malik Harris-Ellis, 28, of Santa Barbara, according to Lt. Robert Minter of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
Harris-Ellis was hit by an Amtrak train and fatally injured at about 10 p.m. Monday on the tracks near Pilgrim Terrace, east of Modoc Road.
Firefighters and other emergency personnel arrived on scene, near the Junipero Street footbridge, to find Harris-Ellis deceased.
The incident remained under investigation by the sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau.
