Authorities were urging people to use caution on the beach in Isla Vista on Thursday after several portions of the adjacent bluffs collapsed onto the beach.

There were two larger slides and two minor ones, according to Mike Eliason, a spokesman with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Yellow caution tape was placed around the area where the soil and rocks ended up at the base of the bluffs.

“It’s important to stay away at least one and a half times the height of the cliff while on the beach,” Eliason told Noozhawk.

No one was injured in the slides, which happened at about 12:30 p.m. near a small park and stairway to the shoreline at Camino Pescadero and Del Playa Drive, Eliason said.

There also were no reports of any structures being damaged.

Eliason noted that there had not been any seismic activity registered in the area.
