Avery Ball tied the score near the end of regulation and delivered the game winner in overtime, giving the Dos Pueblos girls lacrosse team an 11-10 victory at Royal in Simi Valley on Tuesday night.
Ball finished with seven goals to help rally the Chargers from a 5-3 first-half deficit.
Dos Pueblos lost the draw in the sudden-victory overtime, but the defense kept Royal from scoring. Goalie Maddie Nees made a save to keep the Chargers in the game.
With less than a minute left, DP worked the ball down field, and Autumn Litten found a cutting Ball, who scored the game-winner with seconds left.
“We went into the game knowing it would be a tight match up, but it really was a game that put everyone on the edge of their seats,” said DP coach Jessica Delgadillo. “The girls kept their composure and were motivated by the loss in the first half to relax and make the changes necessary to step it up in the second half.”
Delgadillo praised the defense of Liv Naaman, Kenzie Hemman, and Julissa Ramirez-Gijon and the midfield play of Chloe Watson and Litten.
In goal, Nees had five saves and Annette Bennett made four.
DP is now 3-0 on the season.
