The defense and passing of the Santa Barbara High girls volleyball team made the difference in a 25-20, 25-18, 25-20 sweep at Oxnard in a Channel League match on Tuesday.
Tessa de Albergaria and Emmy Wener combined for 29 digs, led by de Albergaria’s 17. Werner had 12 to go with seven kills and three aces.
“Tessa passed very consistently in the back row against a solid Oxnard squad,” said Santa Barbara coach Kristin Hempy.
Augustine Wooten posted a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs, and served s six aces.
“Augustine played really well for us tonight, she had energy and gave full effort all around the court.”
Setters Gwen Chenoweth and Stella Borgioli dished out 14 and 10 assists, respectively, and Chenoweth added eight digs and two aces to her stat line.
The Dons will take a 2-0 league record to a crosstown game against San Marcos on Thursday at J.R. Richards Gym.
