Three local softball players have received to All-CIF honors.
Bella Nuño, a senior shortstop for Dos Pueblos, and San Marcos junior shortstop Caitlyn Early were selected to the Southern Section’s Division 3 team. Bishop Diego junior Tessa Johansen was named to the Division 7 squad.
Nuño set a DP record with 18 home runs this season. She batted .500, with 52 hits, 38 RBIs and 48 runs scored. She struck out only five times.
Early was the leading hitter for San Marcos batting .473, with 43 hits, 14 homers and 39 RBIs.
Johansen had a big season for Bishop Diego, hitting .562, with 36 hits, 36 RBIs, nine homers and 10 doubles.
BOYS LACROSSE
Wade Nieman, the leading scorer for Cate’s Channel League championship team, was named All-CIF in Division 3 boys lacrosse.
Nieman scored 52 goals and handed out 10 assists.
