During his career, Johnson has served as a creative executive in a variety of fields in the entertainment industry. He has worked in positions in front of the camera and behind, in music marketing and talent development, including as a music-magazine writer and editor; television host and producer; show creator and production-staff member; content provider; and website creator.

As his journey took him from print journalism to TV journalism; news to entertainment; and from the music business to the education field, one thing has remained constant — Johnson is a storyteller.

“We are thrilled to welcome Belma to our dynamic team,” said Lauren Trujillo, foundation director. “The board now consists of 13 passionate community leaders who are eager to enhance our community through our public library.”

Johnson succeeds Brooke McDermott, Foundation Board treasurer, whose term ended July 1, following six years of service to the foundation.

”We cannot express enough how deeply grateful we are for the invaluable contributions she has made to the Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation,” said Jackson. “With her support, we have reached significant milestones that have helped grow library support and our organization.”

“Thank you, Brooke, for leaving a legacy at the Santa Barbara Public Library and opening doors,” the Library Foundation and team said.
