A new bench recognizing Ed Andrisek’s lengthy service to Buellton, before and after it became a city, now sits at Zaca Creek Golf Course.
On Monday, current and former council members, city staff, business owners, family and friends honored Andrisek with a granite bench at the golf course he championed while serving on the City Council.
The writing on the bench tells the story of Andrisek’s involvement with the Buellton Community Services District and later the City Council.
He resigned from the City Council in July 2022, citing health reasons.
“He devoted countless hours representing the city’s interests on numerous boards and commissions while on the City Council,” the bench states.
Council members noted that Andrisek’s proudest achievements as a member of the City Council included Buellton’s acquisition of the Zaca Creek Golf Course in 2011.
In August 2022, his former colleagues decided a bench at the golf course would be a fitting tribute to the city’s longest-serving council member.
Andrisek’s departure came after nearly 16 years of service on the Buellton City Council.
His time on the Buellton City Council caps a long history of dedicated public service in the Santa Ynez Valley and beyond.

In addition to his time on the council, Andrisek served on the Buellton Planning Commission for two years.
Before Buellton became a city, Andrisek spent time on the board of directors for the Buellton Community Services District from 1981 to 1989.
He previously spent four years on the Solvang City Council, including one year as mayor.
