Bertrand George “Bert” Morrow of Santa Maria, California, died peacefully in his home Sunday morning, September 15, 2024. He was 91.

Bert was born September 4, 1933, in Los Angeles County, California, to Charlotte Anna Morrow (née Feiertag) and Hugh Philip Morrow.

Bert was the fifth of seven Morrow children, including siblings Hugh Philip Jr., Barbara Jean, Leroy Paul, Donald Walter, Rose Ann and David Lloyd.

Bert grew up with his family on a farmstead near Lebanon, Oregon, from the late 1930s through the mid-1940s before returning to California, where he graduated from Palm Springs High School in 1951.

Upon graduation, Bert served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the rank of staff sergeant and working as crew chief on a C-124 cargo plane.

After an honorable discharge, he soon met the woman he would spend the rest of his life with: Barbara Ann Eaton. They were wed on October 4, 1958, in Anaheim, California, and had five children: Donald Jeffrey, Deborah Kay, Susan Louise, Linda Kathleen and Julie Ann.

Bert was a sheet metal worker (Local 104) and HVAC project manager on major construction projects during his career, including the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, and the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant in Avila Beach, California.

During his lifetime, Bert was an accomplished golfer and a Rancho Maria Men’s Golf Club member. He was also a voracious reader of historical novels and political biographies. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 0534 in Orcutt, California.

Bert is survived by his wife, Barbara Morrow (née Eaton); brother David Morrow; children and spouses Jeff Morrow and his wife, Gloria Bertolozzi, Deborah Morrow-Ryan and her husband, Mark Ryan, Susan Martin (née Morrow) and her husband, Bryan Thompson, Julie Morrow and Jim Rawlinson, widower of Linda Rawlinson (née Morrow); and grandchildren Brandon Rawlinson, Nicole Rawlinson, Hannah Morrow and Olivia Morrow.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, at Dudley Hoffman Mortuary, 1003 E. Stowell Road in Santa Maria. A reception will be held immediately thereafter at the Morrow residence at 803 David Road in Santa Maria.
