Harry McAdam scored seven goals, and the Cate boys lacrosse team netted six goals in the second half to break open a close game and defeat Newbury Park, 14-4, in a non-league contest on Wednesday.

Cate’s scoring outburst gave it a commanding 9-4 lead.

Cody Mast, Wade Nieman and Murray Osborn each added three goals, and Nieman handed out a team-best four assists. McAdam had three assists.

Goalie Burak Yanar played a stellar game. He shut out Newbury in the fourth quarter despite the Rams being in several man-down situations.

The Rams have now won three straight games.

“We had a great win against a team that beat us last year, showing how much we have grown as a team in a short amount of time,” said Cate coach Wade Ransom. “With Burak in goal, and the strong defense we have in front of him, we are going to give teams fits trying to score.”

Cate will host the annual Denison Cup Alumni Game on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., before hosting two crucial contests against Oak Park (Tuesday) and original rival Thacher (Thursday).
