Freshman Luis Fernandez scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half and hit four 3-pointers to spark Bishop Diego boys basketball over Malibut 69-41 in the Thacher Tournament.
Bishop erupted for 43 points in the second half. Kai Morphy led all scorers with 23 points for the Cardinals. Armon Santizo topped the Sharks with 13 points.
“I was really pleased with our ball movement today,” said Cardinals coach James Coronado. “We were sharing the ball, it led to some exciting shots, and that turned up our defense. This was a great team win. Marcus Chan made his debut from a football injury and I felt his energy really sparked us.”
