UCLA volleyball player and former Bishop Diego star Eliana Urzua was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after helping the Bruins to wins at Ohio State and No. 15 Penn State.

Urzua led UCLA with 36 kills over the two conference matches, averaging 4.00 kills per set while hitting at a .313 clip.
She put away a team-high 20 kills on a blistering .381 hitting percentage and added five digs and two blocks for 21 total points in a five-set victory over Ohio State.
The outside hitter followed with her first career double-double of 16 kills and 14 digs in a four-set triumph against defending national champion Penn State.
UCLA libero Lola Schumacher was honored as the Defensive Player of the Week. She had 21 digs against Ohio State and 24 against Penn State.
UCLA’s setter is former Channel League MVP Kate Duffy, a sophomore out of Ventura High.
UCLA is 8-4 on the season and 2-0 in the Big Ten.
