Bishop Diego baseball had its season come to an end with a 3-1 loss to Nordhoff in the CIF-SS D8 playoff opener on Thursday in Ojai.

The Cardinals end the season with an overall record of 11-6, including a 9-1 mark in league play en route to a Frontier League championship.

After two scoreless frames to begin Thursday’s playoff opener, Nordhoff plated three runs in the bottom of the third to jump out in front.

That score held until the top of the seventh, when Zach Fisher drove in the lone Bishop Diego run to make it 3-1. However, Nordhoff held on for the win after that.

David Timewell turned in a strong outing for the Cardinals, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out three in six innings of work.
