Bishop Diego boys volleyball opened its season in sweeping fashion, taking care of Viewpoint in three sets on Tuesday, 25-15, 25-15, 25-9.

“We really took control of the game today,” Cardinals student manager Dominic Herrera said. “Every player contributed and we played with a lot of energy. The team was focused and it’s clear we’re on the right track.

“We’ll look forward to getting better with each game as the season progresses.”

John Michael Flint paced Bishop Diego with 14 kills and two aces while Nick Malesky racked up 12 kills of his own.

At the service line, Harry Hayman and Tyler Roberts collected three aces apiece and Roberts chipped in nine kills.

The Cardinals (1-0) will be on the road against Foothill Tech on Thursday.
