Bishop Diego boys water polo split the first two games of the Buenaventura Tournament on Friday.

Malibu 18, Bishop Diego 7

The Cardinals opened up the tournament with a tough 18-7 loss to Malibu.

Senior Noah Peterson handled the bulk of the offensive load for Bishop Diego, netting four of the team’s seven goals. 

Following up Peterson were Lucas Forry, Diego Fallon and David Acuistapace, who each scored one goal.

Bishop Diego 13, Cathedral 8

The Cardinals then bounced back later in the day with a 12-8 victory over Cathedral with Peterson leading the way once again.

Peterson outscored Cathedral by himself, scoring nine goals en route to the win.

Forry joined Peterson as a multi-goal scorer after scoring a pair while Acuistapace and David Duarte added in a goal apiece.

According to Cardinals head coach Hank Peterson, his squad “played good defense and controlled the whole game.”

Following the day one performance, Bishop Diego will compete in the Silver bracket on Saturday.
