From an eight-win season on the gridiron to a CIF-SS Div. 8 title in girls tennis, Bishop Diego athletics impressed throughout the fall season.
Standout student-athletes from all across campus contributed to these team successes, resulting in plenty of All-League honors for the Cardinals.
Football (Marmonte League)
The Cardinals enjoyed a strong campaign in one of the toughest leagues in the Southern Section, going 8-2 in the regular season and reaching the CIF-SS Div. 4 playoffs.
Bishop Diego had several standouts all over the field, which was made evident by the Sui Faiualama, John Michael Flint and Sam Crawford all earning individual Marmonte League awards.
Faiualama was named the Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year, Flint earned the Co-Wide Receiver of the Year award and Crawford was awarded Co-Defensive Back of the Year.
The Cardinals boasted a high-flying offensive unit all season, led by All-Marmonte League First Team members quarterback Tua Rojas, running back Gabe Villa and offensive lineman Terrence Tasila.
On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Sammy Boeddeker and defensive back Remi Boykin shined for Bishop Diego en route to All-Marmonte League First Team honors.
Meanwhile, running back/linebacker Oscar Mauia, running back/linebacker Sebastian Garcia, receiver/defensive back Ian Bartley, lineman Frank Macias, receiver Mason Bidlow and lineman Poamo Liu represented the team as All-League Honorable Mentions.
Girls Tennis (Frontier League)
The Cardinals put together a historic season on the tennis court this fall, finishing tied atop the Frontier League and battling their way to a CIF-SS Div. 8 championship.
Sophomore Natalie Chan was a consistent dominant presence atop the singles lineup, dominating her way to a Frontier League Singles Most Valuable Player Award.
Meanwhile, the senior trio of Haley Hubbs, Rafaela Fay and Avery Carter rounded out their high school careers with All-League First Team selections.
Senior Sonia Marquez-Miranda and junior Victoria Heredia shined on the doubles court for the Cardinals en route to All-League Second Team nods.
Junior Annabelle Liu capped off the Bishop Diego All-League honorees with a Frontier League Honorable Mention campaign.
Girls Volleyball (Tri-Valley League)
Bishop Diego girls volleyball turned in another strong season, sharing the Tri-Valley League title with St. Bonaventure and reaching the CIF-SS playoffs.
Senior outside hitter Sophie Otte and sophomore setter Karina Urzua were in the middle of the action all season for the Cardinals and were rewarded with spots on the All-League First Team.
The duo of senior middle Mollie McGibben and sophomore outside hitter Natalie Chan turned in strong seasons as well on their way to the All-League Second Team.
Senior middle Olivia Leflang, senior defensive specialist Kate Douglas and junior libero Abbie Hubbs were named All-League Honorable Mentions as well.
Boys Cross Country (Tri-Valley League)
Senior Joe Simolon, freshman Mason Ortega and freshman Westin Goodwin represented the Cardinals on the race course and earned the title of All-League Honorable Mentions.
