Bishop Diego football’s injury-riddled season came to an end with a 51-7 loss to Oaks Christian on Friday in Thousand Oaks.

The Cardinals (2-8, 0-5 Marmonte League) began their season with two wins before the injury bug hit and they dropped eight straight to end the year.

In Friday’s matchup, Oaks Christian dominated the first quarter and held a commanding 17-0 lead early in the second.

Bishop Diego then showed some life when Gabe Phillips recovered a bad snap and Mavaega Luvu came down with a 17-yard completion to get down to the Lions’ 15-yard line.

A few plays later, Kaleo Satele took it himself for a quarterback keeper touchdown to cut the deficit to 17-7 with 7:12 left in the second.

Oaks Christian took over for the rest of the half, scoring two quick touchdowns to take a 31-7 advantage into halftime.

The Lions never looked back from there, forcing a running clock in the fourth quarter and pulling away for the lopsided win.

Oaks Christian finishes the year at 3-7 overall and 3-2 in Marmonte League play, tying for third alongside Newbury Park.
