Bishop Diego football standout defensive back Sam Crawford has announced his commitment to further his academic and athletic career at Wheaton College, a Div. 3 program in Illinois.
Crawford was a team captain and a two-time All-Marmonte League defensive back for the Cardinals. He helped the team to an 8-3 record and a spot in the CIF-SS D4 playoffs in his senior year.
“Sam is not only a talented young man with great perspective and work ethic, but even more importantly, he is a genuinely humble leader by example on and off the field,” Bishop Diego head football coach Tom Crawford said.
“He is the young man who puts in the extra work to constantly improve, treats others with respect and always places team above self. Sam represents what we want to see in our student-athletes. He will excel at Wheaton, and we are excited for him.”
Crawford will join his older brother and San Marcos alumnus, Luke, on the Wheaton football roster.
