The Bishop Diego girls limited Hueneme to three first half points on the way to a 49-20 win over the Vikings Friday to improve to 12-1 on the season.

“We are getting better at communicating on our team defense,” Cardinals coach Jeff Burich said.

Galilea De La Cruz led Bishop Diego in scoring with 15 points and Lily Simolon added eight.

“I was pleased with the play of our guards,” Burich said.

“Jiali Coronado and Jaymi, celebrating their birthdays (Friday and Saturday, respectively), played great at both ends of the court.

“Our bench stayed competitive with Diane Mendez, Mileyni Sanchez and Kasey Seashore producing in the second half with rebounding and sharing the ball offensively.”

The Cardinals have next week off for finals.
