Bishop Diego girls tennis’ season came to a close on Tuesday in the Frontier League Individual Tournament at Laguna Blanca.

Natalie Chan was the lone Cardinal to reach the semifinals after earning an 8-3 win over Providence’s Sarah Monroy in the quarterfinals.

Chan fell in the semifinals to Dunn’s Frieda Hauser before earning a victory in the third-place match to secure the first alternate spot for the CIF-SS playoffs.

Meanwhile, Haley Hubbs fell in the quarterfinals to Providence’s Tate Yeager in the singles tournament.

In doubles, Anja Fassbind/Victoria Heredia dropped their quarterfinal matchup and Sophia Regan/Avery Carter fell in the Round of 8.

“The Cardinals fought hard all year. We battled so hard all year from start to finish,” Bishop Diego coach Peter Kirkwood said. “The work ethic and positive energy the team brought to every practice and every match  leaves no doubt we did the best we were capable of doing.”
