Bishop Diego and Providence girls volleyball each picked up sweeps on Saturday as the regular season nears its end.

Bishop Diego girls volleyball came away with a three-set sweep over Nordhoff at the Brick House, 25-13, 26-24, 25-19.
“We’re playing steady volleyball right now, and I’m excited to see how we close out our regular season next week,” Cardinals coach Dillan Bennett said. “We’re battling in league play for a second-place finish, but we’ll have to play very well this week for a playoff spot.”
Eliana Urzua, who played setter in the second set, ended with 16 kills, an ace and a block in the win.
The Thorne-Thomsen sisters made their impact felt, as Sage tallied seven kills and seven aces while Wynter collected six kills, two aces and a block.
“I’m very thankful the Rangers could make the trip to Santa Barbara on a Saturday,” Bennett said of his opponent. “Their coaching staff does a great job coaching their players, and I appreciate the relationship our volleyball programs have.”
With one week to go in the regular season, the Cardinals (16-12) will host Foothill Tech on Tuesday for Senior Night.
Providence 3, Midland 0
The Patriots remained undefeated in Condor League play with a sweep of Midland, 25-15, 25-18, 25-17.
Daniella Terry led the attack with 10 aces and eight kills while her fellow outside hitter Kate Douglas turned in seven kills.
“It’s nice to see the outsides starting to get more kills,” Providence assistant coach Dan Terry said. “We’ve really been working with our setters to push those sets all the way out to our OHs as outlets and it’s paying off.”
Providence will look to complete its perfect league season on Wednesday against Besant Hill.
