Bishop Diego went on a 10-0 run in the second quarter and pulled away to a 66-42 non-league boys basketball win at Villanova Prep on Thursday.
“We started off slow, but I really liked our defensive pressure once we all got on the same page,” said coach James Coronado. “That helped our transition game and our offensive flow.”
Bryan Trejo and Lui Fernandez each scored 14 points for the Cardinals (11-6), and Ryder Torres chipped in nine points.
Coronado was pleased how the reserves played.
“Our bench is beginning to find some comfort out there, and that’s great because we are going to need them,” he said.
