San Marcos softball pulled out a 15-10 win over Lompoc on the road on Thursday.
The Royals started fast, plating seven runs in the first two innings of the game to grab a quick 7-1 lead.
However, the Braves responded with six runs in the bottom of the third, tying the game at seven apiece.
After a scoreless fourth inning, San Marcos grabbed the lead back in the top of the fifth.
Lompoc punched right back in the bottom half with a trio of runs to take their first lead of the game.
The rest of the game was all San Marcos, as the Royals rattled off six runs in the final two innings to earn the 15-10 win.
“I’m proud of our team for answering back,” San Marcos coach Emily Dietz said. “We never let the big innings that Lompoc had impact how we played, we just rolled with it and kept going.”
Solana Sandoval and Lucy Dessert led San Marcos with three hits while Caitlyn Early, Tiana Monaghan and Charlotte Hastings tallied two hits apiece.
Early and Monaghan roped homers in the win while Hastings picked up a pair of doubles.
Monaghan (4), Dessert (3), Hastings (2) and Early (2) all drove in multiple runs in the victory.
Kate Guerra and Dessert were in the circle for the win, with Dessert tossing the final 4 2/3 innings while allowing just one earned run.
Bishop Diego 13, Castaic 13
Bishop Diego ended their matchup with Castaic in a 13-13 tie after the game was called due to darkness.
Chelsea Hayes opened up the scoring for the Cardinals with an RBI single in the first, but Castaic quickly responded with a run of their own in the bottom half.
Bishop Diego’s offense picked it up in the second with a trio of runs thanks to an RBI single by Tara Gregson and a two-run double off the bat of Lauren Weeks.
Castaic answered yet again with five runners over the next two innings to take a 6-4 lead.
The Cardinals’ offense erupted in the fourth inning for six runs, with the biggest knock coming on a two-RBI double from Weeks.
After some more back-and-forth play and two runs in the top of the seventh, Bishop Diego held a 13-9 lead heading into the final half-inning.
However, Castaic ripped off four runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game up and send it to extra innings.
Although Bishop Diego scored three runs in the top of the eighth, the game was called due to darkness and the score was reverted to the last full inning, resulting in the tie.
Tessa Johansen led the strong offensive attack, going 4-for-6 with five RBI. Meanwhile, Gregson, Weeks and Amanda Gayou each tallied three hits.
Weeks drove in four runs while Gregson plated three and scored five runs of her own.
Fillmore 10, Carpinteria 0
The Warriors struggled offensively in a loss to Fillmore on Thursday.
It was all Fillmore from the beginning, as they poured in for runs in the first inning and scored five more in the second.
From there, Fillmore cruised to the victory.
The Warriors had two hits on the day courtesy of Amarisse Camargo and Savannah Cardenas.
“I thought the team played well, we had some missed opportunities that allowed them to get more runs and their pitcher made it really tough for our hitters, striking out 12,” Carpinteria coach Matt Mora said. “We took some things away from this game that we can improve on.”
