A seven-run fourth inning powered Bishop Diego to its first baseball win of the season, a 12-4 non-league victory over Fillmore on Monday.
Gabe Martinez, Jack Stowe and Isaac Veal led a 16-hit attack with three hits apiece. Martinez had a double, Stowe drove in two runs and Veal hit a triple and a double.
Austin Chrestenson and Sam Kitt each had two hits.
Stowe started on the mound and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk. He struck out six. Jacob Salas finished the game.
“It was great to get our first win,” said coach Pete Stathopoulos. “The boys had fun and our offense finally did what we know it can do.
“Stowe gave us a great performance on the hill and in the box today. Our team really rallied around that and it helped us keep our momentum up all game.”
