Gabe Martinez hit a game-winning single in the ninth inning to lift the Bishop Diego baseball team to a 5-4 baseball win over Dunn in a Tri-Valley League game on Saturday.

Martinez also closed out the game on the mound for the last 2.2 innungs.

Isaac Veal started the game and pitched 6.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits, while striking four.

Veal and Martinez both had two hits and Veal stole four bases.

Sam Kitt had two crucial putouts at home plate to hold the game.

Kaden Guron robbed Dunn of a home run in center field to hold the game 4-4 in the top of the 7th inning. 

“This was an exciting win,” said coach Pete Stathopolous. Both teams competed really hard. This was a good way to end our first league series this season, and we hope to ride this momentum going into more league play.”
