Ashton Pelly and Jack Stowe both went 2-for-3 a double to help Bishop Diego to a 3-2 win over Santa Clara on Wednesday, for the team’s first Tri-Valley League win of the season.
Dax Donati hit a pinch-hit, two-out double off the left field fence in the top of the seventh, driving in the tying run. Donati then came around to score what would prove the game-winner on a passed ball a couple of pitches later.
Nico Sanchez started for the Cardinals, pitching five innings and giving up three hits and two earned runs. Pelly got the win, pitching two innings with no runs and four strikeouts — including striking out the side in the seventh.
