Bishop Diego won its first Tri-Valley League championship in 12 years, beating Foothill Tech 77-41 on Friday.

The Cardinals’ Tyler Williams led all scorers with 19 points, and Matthew Cunningham added 18

“We starting moving the ball and shots kept falling, but the best thing we did was play team defense,” Bishop Diego coach James Coronado said.

“It was a total team effort, even our bench was playing tough defense, and when we do that, it’s a beautiful thing. Congrats to our team, league champs, but we still got work to do.”

The Cardinals finish the league season at 5-1. St. Bonaventure is in second at 4-2.

Bishop Diego is 6-2 overall.
