Bishop Diego surrendered an eight-point halftime lead and fell to St. Bonaventure 32-25 in a non-league game Tuesday.

Elliot Redkey scored nine points to lead the Cardinals, who built a 16-8 halftime lead despite missing nine free throws.

“St. Bonaventure got a little more physical than us in the second half, and we wore down playing our fifth game in a week,” Bishop Diego coach Jeff Burich said. “Elliot really had a gutty performance before leaving with leg cramps. She just makes such a difference for us when she’s on the court.

“Clara McDonald and Lily Simolon played well inside, taking turns against their 6’1 post player.  I am proud of our players effort night.

Bishop Diego is now 6-2 overall, and remains 3-1 in Frontier League play. The Cardinals host Carpinteria Wednesday in another non-league game.
