Bishop Diego and Laguna Blanca traveled to Cambria Saturday and both defeated Coast Union and Coastal Christian.
Laguna Blanca took down the Broncos of Coast Union 3-1, on scores of 25-9, 25-19, 23-25, 2515. Lola Hall led the Owls with seven kills and five aces. Natalie Bianchi added three aces, and Frances led the defense with 12 digs.
Coastal Christian then took the Owls to the distance before falling 23-25, 25-21, 25-5, 22-25, 15-13.
Fiona Hernandez had six kills and two blocks for Laguna Blanca.
“Amelia Fowler had five kills, four aces and had a fantastic overall match” against the Conquerors, Laguna Blanca coach Jason Donnelly said.
“She took some big swings for us, particularly when we were out of system, and was consistent all afternoon long.
“We saw a little bit of everything today and made the most of our opportunities,” Donnelly said. “We are young squad and continue to learn valuable lessons each time we step on the court.”
The Owls are 3-6 overall and 0-2 in Tri-Valley League play. They host Foothill Tech on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Bishop Diego swept both Coast Union and Coastal Christian to improve to 12-6 on the year. The Cardinals are 1-0 in Frontier League play, and play a league match against Thacher Tuesday at home, starting at 6 p.m.
