Bishop Diego won its second Tri-Valley League game Saturday to stay in first place, besting Santa Clara 9-3.
Seven players had hits for the Cardinals, led by Luc Maho’s 3-for-4, with a stolen base. Gabe Martinez went 2-for-2 with two walks, and Jack Stowe hit a first-inning single that drove in the Cardinals’ first two runs.
Stowe also pitched the first six innings, with three strikeouts and three earned runs. Martinez pitched the seventh, striking out two.
Bishop Diego is now 2-0 in TVL play and 5-5 overall.
“Today was a quality win,” Bishop Diego assistant coach Mitch Moore said. “Stowe was able to work deep in the game which was a big plus. It was also great to see our bats wake up; our offense was firing today. We really want to carry this momentum into the rest of season going forward.”
