Home Plate Grill will be closing its doors on March 31 after 10 years at its Goleta location.

The restaurant announced that it will close its spot, at 7398 Calle Real, Suite C, in an Instagram post shared on March 6.

“We sincerely thank all our customers, friends and community members for your support over the last decade,” the post read. “Serving you has meant so much to us, and we are grateful for every visit, meal and memory shared here.”

The post was signed by head chef Ken Johnston, Amanda Johnston and their staff.

Restaurant staff reportedly chose not to renew their lease and will close the restaurant.

ReStore to Restart Soon

The resale shop ReStore will begin accepting donations on Monday at its 400 State St. location in Santa Barbara.

The ReStore brand is owned and operated by Habitat for Humanity. The stores accept donations of lightly used furniture and home décor, along with usable building materials and fixtures.

The donated items and other materials that the organization receives will then be sold to the public.

The sales are used to support the Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County and the organization’s goal of providing affordable housing in Santa Barbara.

Habitat Santa Barbara announced it had signed the lease for the new ReStore in February 2023. The organization previously operated a ReStore in Goleta, but the business closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even though the store will be accepting donations, the grand opening is expected to happen in the summer.

Donations can be dropped off on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the back of the store. Enter the back entrance on Gutierrez Street.

From Sunshine to Sunset

Santa Barbara Sunshine Café will be expanding its hours to serve dinner.

The café, at 5711 Calle Real in Goleta, now will be serving dinner on Fridays and Saturdays from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’s open daily, but was open only from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
