The Sando Truck was short-lived in the Goodland.
The company has announced to the media that it will be closing this weekend after officially opening in the Target Shopping Center in August.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have made the difficult decision to close our Goleta location,” owner Nick Gillio said in a statement. “We are devastated by this abrupt change, but so thankful for the incredible support this community has shown us.”
Gillio said he grew up eating katsu sandos during visits to his family in Japan, and they’ve always held a special place in his heart. The Sando Truck specializes in Japanese crispy katsu sandwiches made out of pork or chicken.
Its last day will be Sunday.
“This isn’t goodbye,” Gillio said. “We’ll still be around after this month with pop-ups, so make sure to follow us here to stay up to date on where you can find us. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you.”

Madam Lu Closing
Madam Lu, a longtime Chinese restaurant in Santa Barbara, is shutting its doors at the end of the month.
It has been open for almost three decades.
“After serving the Santa Barbara community for 27 years, we will be permanently closing after Sept. 30,” the company posted on its window. “Thank you for joining us on this journey.”
According to the company’s website, Mei-Jung Lu Gaffney was born in Taiwan and was introduced to the art of “Country Style Chinese Cooking” because her family owned a local restaurant. That type of cooking, according to the site, sets her apart from other Chinese restaurants in town because of its down-home taste.
“All her chefs are Chinese,” the website states. “She believes in providing friendly, great service. Naturally, many of the staff are family members.”
