Now, every night can be taco night.

From the Los Agaves Restaurant Group comes Taqueria La Unica, Santa Barbara’s newest home for street tacos.

“Where our family is from in Jalisco, some of the very best food can be found right on the streets. It’s amazing. There’s nothing else like it,” Carlos Luna, owner of Taqueria La Unica, said in a news release. “We wanted to re-create the experience that transports our guests to the streets of Mexico, where the flavors are bold, the spices are fiery and the tacos are always fresh.”

The open kitchen allows guests to watch the chef and the overall team work.

Traditional street tacos, tortas, volcanes and alambres are all made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, according to the news release.

Guests can “discover” a variety of meats, such as pastor, lengua, cabeza, cachete, labio, suadero, longaniza and tripa, along with homemade salsas. Vegetarian options include mushroom, cauliflower and bean.

The restaurant provides indoor and patio seating.

Taqueria La Unica is located at 3771 State St. in Santa Barbara and is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

It’s the eighth restaurant to open in the South Coast region by brothers Carlos and Christian Luna and their families.

“Taqueria La Unica is more than just a place to eat,” Carlos Luna said. “It’s a celebration of the vibrant culture we grew up with and traditions that inspire our authentic Mexican cuisine.”

Three Pickles Opens

On to the next one.

Chapala Street in Santa Barbara has traded one popular sandwich shop for another.

Three Pickles opened recently at the site of the former South Coast Deli.

The South Coast Deli owner in January said they were informed that a new tenant was coming in two weeks before their lease was set to expire at 1436 Chapala St.

Suddenly, Three Pickles appeared.

It’s the third Three Pickles on the South Coast, along with a location at 126 E. Canon Perdido St. in Santa Barbara and at 420 S. Fairviww Ave. in Goleta.
