The body of a missing person was found Sunday afternoon in the Santa Ynez River in the Lompoc Valley, according to the Lompoc Police Department.
Lompoc police, Lompoc fire, Santa Barbara County Fire, Sheriff’s Office, Vandenberg SFB water rescue team, American Medical Response and California Highway Patrol personnel responded to a report of a found body around 12:35 p.m., police said.
“The body has not been identified at this time and identification will be conducted by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office,” police said.
Two adults in kayaks discovered the remains of a male in the river bed near Santa Lucia Canyon Road, said County Fire Department spokesman Mike Eliason.
No further information about the discovery or identity of the deceased person was available Sunday.
The grim find comes after multiple days of searching for a 14-year-old Lompoc boy who was reported missing on Jan. 27.

The father of Alberto Rafael Cabrera Corona reported him missing from their home on the afternoon of Jan. 27. The boy’s parent last saw him at approximately 8 p.m. Jan. 26, according to Lompoc Police Sgt. Jorge Magana.
Detectives determined that Cabrera Corona was with two known subjects in the early morning hours of Jan. 28.
“The three were in a vehicle that became stuck in the mud and left abandoned on the far west end of town. While walking back to the city, there was a disagreement on which way to go, so Cabrera Corona walked northbound, and the other juveniles walked eastbound and made it into town,” Magana said.
Cabrera Corona had not returned days later, so detectives conducted several interviews and followed up on potential leads.
On Wednesday, the Lompoc detectives and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office helicopter flew over the area where the missing juvenile was last seen, but he was not located.
A day later, the Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue team, three search dogs, and their helicopter thoroughly searched the area where the teen was last seen.
“They did not locate Cabrera Corona, nor any crime scene, and there are no signs of foul play located,” Magana said.
Alberto was described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black beanie, a white long-sleeve shirt, a gray zip-up jacket, black pants and black Nike Air Force 1 shoes, police said.
