Santa Barbara High boys basketball fell by a score of 82-43 to a strong Sierra Canyon squad on Wednesday in Chatsworth.

Sierra Canyon is currently ranked No. 3 in the nation by MaxPreps and boasts the No. 2 player in the class of 2026 in Brandon McCoy.

“It was an excellent opportunity to play them, and I was happy with the way we kept fighting the whole game,” Santa Barbara High head coach Greg Zuffelato said. “We did a fantastic job at doubling their post players. We made it difficult for them to score inside.

“The issue was in transition. They pushed the ball down the court so fast that they created a lot of easy baskets in the first quarter.”

Sierra Canyon raced out to a 26-13 lead in the first quarter and never looked back from there. However, the Dons did show their fight when they outscored the Trailblazers 12-11 in the fourth quarter.

“We adjusted in the second quarter and slowed them down,” Zuffelato said. “The problem was that we had difficulty running any offense against their length and athleticism.

“I challenged them at the end of the 3rd to keep fighting, to work to get better and to win the fourth quarter and we did.”

Inglewood 96, Bishop Diego 82

The Cardinals dropped a high-scoring affair with Inglewood High on Wednesday night.

Bishop Diego was paced by 26 points from Rudy Blue, while Crew Sjovold and Shane Kwizera dropped 22 points apiece.
