Dos Pueblos boys golf competed in the annual Spanish Hills Invitational on Monday to open up its 2025 spring season at the par 71 Spanish Hills Country Club.

The tournament, hosted by Camarillo and Rio Mesa, is a three-man team format that includes 30 teams from 20 different schools.

The Chargers had three teams in the field, with the trio of Teddy Vigna, Laith Reynolds and Scott Nightingale leading the way with a third-place overall finish.

Vigna and Reynolds each shot a three-over-par 74 to tie for eighth place individually while Nightingale carded an 80 for 30th place. Reynolds finished his round with a bride and an eagle to clinch third place.

“I am happy for the boys to start off the season with some success, and we all look forward to seeing what this team can do,” Dos Pueblos head coach Kevin Ahlers said. “Laith has really stepped up his golf game this offseason and I’m excited to see how he does this season.”

Dos Pueblos’ Orlando Ramirez-Gijon, Colt Roberts and Brooklyn Bustos came together as their second team in the invitational, shooting 86 (T-56th), 92 (T-74th) and 98 (T-83rd), respectively.

The team of Coulter Jay (92, T-74th), Jonathan Yang (109, 88th) and Parker Hickman (120, 89th) rounded out the Charger golfers for their season-opening match.

Dos Pueblos will take on Loyola on Thursday at Lakewood Country Club.

Santa Barbara High @ Spanish Hills

The Dons also competed in the Spanish Hills Invitational, sending a pair of teams to the tournament.

The team of Graham Chapman (77), Liam Horn (79) and Alex Ortega (81) put together a strong showing and finished in sixth place as a trio.

Elliott Blinderman followed with his score of 81 while both Noah Arndt and Peyton Webley shot an 87. Jeremy Westmacott rounded out Santa Barbara High with a score of 93.

“This was a good start to the season, especially on a narrow, challenging, new course for several of our golfers,” Dons head coach Ryan Throop said.

Santa Barbara High will host Oxnard on Thursday at the Santa Barbara Golf Club.

San Marcos 389, Oaks Christian 397

The Royals began their season with a non-league victory over Oaks Christian on Monday at Ojai Valley Inn’s par 70 course.

“It was great to get our season started off with a win against an always strong Oaks Christian team,” San Marcos head coach Jeff Ashton said.  “It was the first time seeing this course for a few of our guys, but they handled the challenge well and put together some solid rounds.”

It was a balanced attack for the Royals as four of their five golfers shot in the 70s, with Andy Keenan leading the charge with a 72.

Keenan was followed by Austin Downing (74), Himmat Singh (76), Adam Kabaretti (79) and Ethan Klawuhn (87).

San Marcos (1-0) will take on Harvard-Westlake and Hart at Sterling Hills in a three-team match on Wednesday.
