Malibu 11, Carpinteria High 7
The Warriors dropped their Citrus Coast League showdown with Malibu by on Thursday in Carpinteria.
“The boys were excited to play and knew it was going to be a close battle,” Carpinteria High head coach Charles Bryant said. “We had some close losses and a few leads get away from us but overall, we played well, just not well enough against a very balanced and strong, experienced Shark squad.”
Edwin Hernandez continued his stellar season for the Warriors with a 3-0 performance in singles action, while Kamran Dadvar tallied a pair of victories.
The Carpinteria High duo of Servando Campuzano/Ethan Almgren rounded out the team’s scoring with a 3-0 sweep of their own.
“Overall, we played well against a solid and balanced Shark squad,” Bryant said. “They did not have any weak spots in their lineup and made us work hard for our set wins.”
The Warriors are now 5-2 overall and 2-1 against CCL opponents.
Foothill Tech 18, Bishop Diego 0
The Cardinals were blanked by Foothill Tech in a Tri-Valley League matchup on Thursday in Carpinteria.
“Needless to say, we were overwhelmed today,” Bishop Diego head coach Peter Kirkwood said. “As always, the Cardinals played with our patterned hustle, hit and never quit attitude.”
The Cardinals will look to bounce back with a non-league match against Dos Pueblos on Monday in Goleta.
