An impressive seven local boys volleyball squads earned spots in the CIF-SS playoffs this season, with the pairings being released on Saturday.

Leading the way for the local area schools is the trio of Channel League teams, all of which will be competing in the Division 2 bracket.

San Marcos (Div. 2)

The Royals turned in one of the best regular seasons in program history in 2024, rattling off a 27-2 record on their way to a Channel League championship.

As a result, they were given the No. 2 seed in Div. 2 and will host their first playoff game against El Segundo (9-12) on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Santa Barbara High (Div. 2)

Meanwhile, the Dons were neck and neck with San Marcos all season long and ended the year with a record of 13-12 and a second-place finish in league.

Despite earning the No. 4 seed in the division, Santa Barbara High will hit the road to take on Crestview League champion Canyon High (12-6) on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Dos Pueblos (Div. 2)

Rounding out the local teams in Division 2 are the Chargers, whose strong season landed them in third place in the Channel League with an overall record of 19-8.

Dos Pueblos will also begin its playoff journey on the road on Thursday when they take on Upland (19-4), the champions of the Baseline League, at 6 p.m.

Laguna Blanca (Div. 4)

The Owls dominated their way to a Tri-Valley League championship this season, going perfect in league action and boasting a 22-3 overall record.

Thanks to their strong play this year, they were awarded a home match in their postseason opener against Bolsa Grande (20-8) on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Bishop Diego (Div. 5)

The Cardinals finished second behind Laguna Blanca in the Tri-Valley League and had a solid overall season with a mark of 20-15 on the year.

They will be away from home to begin the playoffs, taking on the Prep League’s second-place finisher in Flintridge Prep (15-9) on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Cate (Div. 6)

The Rams won a do-or-die, play-in game last week to clinch an automatic playoff spot, wrapping up a 13-9 season while playing in the Tri-Valley League.

Cate will host a wildcard matchup in Div. 6 against Beacon Hill (9-3) on Thursday at 6 p.m. The winner will move on to face Malibu (18-8, 1st place in Citrus Coast League) on the road on Saturday.

Providence (Div. 7)

The Patriots captured a Condor League title in 2024 with a strong record of 7-2.

Thanks to their solid play and league title, Providence will host the Palmdale Aerospace Academy (13-4), who received an at-large bid, on Saturday at 6 p.m.
