Dos Pueblos boys volleyball made the trip up to Santa Ynez High and came away with a four-set win on Thursday, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 25-12.
The Chargers have now won four straight games to begin their 2025 season. They will be on the road against Oak Park on Tuesday.
“Santa Ynez was super scrappy tonight and kept many plays alive,” Dos Pueblos head coach Ehren Hug said. “They kept us on our toes defensively with a lot of off speed and roll shots out of system.
“I’m proud of the hustle tonight. We had some tight moments, but we were hustling and giving great effort throughout.”
Senior middle Noah Grant had a strong all-around game with a team-high 12 kills to go along with six blocks and six digs. Fellow middle Ben Wojobe tallied four kills and four blocks.
“Ben was reading the pass quality well and was closing a lot of blocks,” Hug said. “Noah is having an amazing start to his season and it’s been dents in the floor wherever he leaves.
“He’s worked so hard these last three seasons and he’s got that blue collar middle mentality where he’s always up to block and attack.”
Wyatt Silver collected 39 assists, six kills, six digs and five blocks for the Chargers while Kawim Ramko hammered down 11 kills in the win. Defensively, Enzo DeMatteo ended with 12 digs.
Meanwhile, Evan Daugherty ripped off several strong service runs to help Dos Pueblos pull away in sets.
Laguna Blanca 3, Nordhoff 0
The Owls kicked off their season with a sweep of Nordhoff on Thursday, 25-10, 25-12, 25-15.
“It was a good first match but we have a lot of growing to do,” Laguna Blanca coach Tanner Stevens said. “It was nice to get our legs under us and get the season rolling.”
Liam Knezevic paced the offense with 11 kills while Tyson Deveze and Soren Alldredge followed with eight and seven, respectively.
Libero Jamie Levinson turned in a solid defensive performance and was strong from the service line.
The Owls (1-0) will compete in the Chadwick Tournament on Saturday.
