The senior duo of Enzo DeMatteo and Owen Andrews were crucial for the Chargers, combining for 14 digs in the back row to lead the defensive effort.

The Chargers (5-2) will host Rio Mesa on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. for the Channel League opener.
Mira Costa 3, Santa Barbara High 0
The Dons suffered a sweep on the road to Mira Costa on Monday in Manhattan Beach, 18-25, 18-25, 23-25.
“Santa Barbara High and Mira Costa have played each other for the past 45 years,” Santa Barbara High head coach Chad Arneson said. “It’s been an amazing tradition. I’m honored and grateful that our teams get to play them every year. Mira Costa has a lot of depth this year; they had 3 different liberos start tonight.”
After dropping the first two games, the Dons came out strong in the third and built up a 21-16 lead. However, Mira Costa came roaring back to overtake them for the sweep.
“I was encouraged to see our growth throughout the match,” Arneson said. “We never quit and we will learn to get better as a team. This was definitely a great stepping stone on where we’re at and where we want to be.”
Maddox Denver facilitated the offense with 26 assists and added five digs and two kills. Hayes Costner led the Dons’ offense with nine kills, while Jasper Bell hammered down eight of his own.
Santa Barbara High will be on the road against Cabrillo on Wednesday.
