San Marcos held host Ventura under 10 points in each set of a sweep in a Channel League boys volleyball match on Thursday. The scores were 25-7, 25-5, 25-8.
Nate Loomer, Charlie Magid and Taj Chesluk paced the attack on the outside, and junior Cameron Earls ran the offense at setter.
Senior middle Charlie Boyes had five kills in his first varsity start and junior Declan McClintock added four kills in the middle.
The Royals improve to 3-0 in league and 9-2 overall.
Santa Barbara 3, Pacifica 0
Middle Mikey Denver led the way for the Dons against a scrappy Pacifica team with 10 kills, six blocks and two service aces.
The match scores were 25-10, 25-18, 25-15.
Luke Zuffelato contributed seven kills, Will Harman had five and Austin Jaimes added four.
Coach Chad Arneson praised the passing and defense of libero Dana Whitney.
Sophomore Chase Holdren dished out 15 assists and junior Ford Harman had 10.
The Dons are 2-1 in league and 7-4 overall.
Dos Pueblos 3, Oxnard 0
Senior middle blocker and captain Matthew Wilcox was a force for the Chargers in the 25-13, 25-13, 25-19 sweep of the Channel League match.
The 6-foot-6 had a team-high nine kills, three blocks, one dig and an ace serve.
“Matthew has really come into his own this season and is playing with a lot of confidence,” said coach Ehren Hug. “The coaches and I are super stoked with Matthew’s work
ethic thus far and are very excited for the big matches ahead on the schedule.”
Grant Hughes added five kills to go with 19 assists, a block, and three aces.
Dos Pueblos served 16 aces in the match. Kawin Ramko was the leader with four.
The Chargers play Otay Ranch at 8 a.m. Saturday morning to open The Golden State Classic Tournament, hosted by Reseda High School.
