Dos Pueblos boys water polo fell behind early and couldn’t make up for the deficit en route to a 12-6 loss to Ventura on Thursday.

The Cougars offense started hot, jumping out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

In fact, the only quarter that the Chargers had the advantage was the third, when they outscored Ventura 3-1 to cut the lead down to 9-6.

However, Dos Pueblos couldn’t find the back of the cage in the final quarter and the Cougars continued to pour it on until reaching the final score of 12-6.

Jaden Moore was the lone multi-goal scorer for the Chargers, scoring twice in the loss.

Santa Barbara 15, Oxnard 2

The Dons rolled past Oxnard on their way to a 13-goal victory.

Lorenzo Russell led the way offensively, doubling the Yellow Jackets’ goal total with a game-high four goals. Following Russell were Paolo Borgioli and West Graham, who had three and two goals, respectively.

Borgioli also had three steals while Graham tallied four assists as well.

Jack Fulbeck, Calvin Nelley and Shane Davis each got in on the scoring fun with a goal apiece.

In the cage, Nikita Kolosov had seven saves, two steals and a pair of assists.

Santa Barbara High will compete in the Steven Pal Tournament this weekend.

Cate 13, Bishop Diego 10

The Cardinals wrapped up their season with a 13-10 loss to Cate.

Noah Peterson scored six of the team’s goals in the loss while David Acquistapace was not far behind with three of his own. Lucas Forry scored the other goal.

“I’m proud of the game David AcQuistapace played on both offense & defense with 3 goals,” Bishop Diego coach Hank Peterson said. “I’m extremely proud of how hard the seniors played for their last game, with Flynn Mitchelson and especially Noah Peterson dominating on both sides of the ball.

“Noah averaged five to six goals a game for the season while being doubled teamed the majority of the time. There were great improvements since the beginning of the season for a very young team.”
