Cate 17, Righetti 11
The Rams erupted for a non-league victory over Righetti High on Tuesday.
“I was very pleased with the way we looked against a talented Righetti side,” Cate head coach Jesse Morrison said. “We played fast and unselfishly, made smart decisions, and committed to team-focused defenses.”
Liam Moes paced the Cate offensive attack with seven goals, while Fletcher Prince poured in four goals of his own.
August Shapiro contributed one goal and three assists, while Andrew Shehunoff shined at goalie with nine saves, three steals and two assists.
“Moes and Prince did an outstanding job controlling the game offensively for us, capitalizing on their scoring opportunities,” Morrison said. “Eman Brine was a physical presence for us, putting in defensive work that doesn’t always get recognized in the stat sheet.
“Our new ninth graders continue to impress us with their well-beyond-their-years smooth feel for the game.”
Cate (2-0) will take on Royal High on Thursday at 5:15 p.m.
